Business computing is the study of computer technology in the context of commercial. It combines aspects of computing with subjects like accounting marketing, business strategy, and information systems to enable individuals to use computer technology to meet the goals of their organizations.

Businesses need individuals who can develop robust, reliable, and user-friendly systems that can be used to implement organisational solutions in the age of computers being increasingly used for information delivery and analysis of data. Our BSc (Hons) Business Computing degree will give you the skills and knowledge required to succeed in this fast-paced industry and will include guest lecturers from business organizations sharing their experience with you.

Additionally, you will acquire the other skills employers are looking for in IT professionals. These include teamwork, leadership managing projects, and problem-solving. The degree will provide a base of knowledge in areas such as programming and software development web design, databases, and information systems, in addition to the ability to specialize in areas of marketing, data analytics and advanced computer science.

The course will give you an understanding of Windows and its application software, including Word 2002 for Windows word processing spreadsheets databases, database management systems, graphic presentation software, and the Internet. In addition it will provide you with information about security issues for computers and e-commerce issues.

Typically, teaching is by way of seminars and lectures, with many courses including laboratory-based computer exercises. Students are also expected to do independent research and study, both at home and at the university.
